About Monki
Monki is a town in northeastern Poland and, as of 1999, is situated within the Podlaskie Voivodeship. From 1975 to 1998 it became a part of the Bialystok Voivodeship. It is the capital of Monki County. In the 16th century Monki become a village owned through the Monko family. In the 19th century, while building railroad from Grodno became in progress, in the neighborhood of Monki a teach station changed into built. After the First World War a Catholic church was built.
In the late World War II Germans destroyed the church. After the battle, in 1954, the village turned into followed as capital of the Monki county. That accelerated development of the village and in 1965 Monki have become a city. Monki's coat of palms gives a woman with potatoes. It is connected with an antique form of farming in Monki village and it neighbourhood. In town turned into organised a day of potato. Many of Monki's inhabitants have moved abroad, especially to america, on the way to ship remittances to their households.
