About Lubsko
Lubsko is a metropolis in Zary County in the Lubusz Voivodeship in western Poland. It is the executive seat of the Gmina Lubsko and has a population of 15,370 as of February 1, 2005. The town in the historic Lower Lusatia region changed into first documented in 1258 and obtained town privileges through the Lusatia margrave Henry III of Wettin in 1283. The name Sommerfeld, German for summer season subject already seemed in an 1106 deed allegedly issued through margrave Henry I of Wettin, who however had died 3 years before. The Wettin margraves sold the city to Brandenburg in 1304.
Given in pawn numerous instances, Emperor Charles IV of Luxembourg in the end granted Sommerfeld with Lower Lusatia to the Silesian Piast duke Bolko II the Small. After Bolko loss of life in 1368 it turned into seized as a reverted fief by the Bohemian Crown. When the Brandenburg Elector Albert III Achilles of Hohenzollern obtained the nearby Silesian cities of Krossen and Zullichau in 1482, the adjacent Sommerfeld region too came into the possession of Brandenburg and turned into integrated into the Neumark district.
