About Lancut Synagogue
The Lancut Synagogue is a Baroque synagogue in Lancut, Poland. The Lancut Synagogue is a rare surviving example of the vaulted synagogues with a bimah-tower, that were built at some stage in the Polish lands in masonry from the 16th through the early 19th centuries. The synagogue became renovated within the mid-20th century, and underwent renovations within the years 1983-1990. The synagogue is a simple Baroque, masonry constructing with a vestibule and side room, fundamental corridor and a women's balcony above the vestibule reached by using an outside staircase.
The windows of the principle hall are unusually big for a Polish synagogue; Krinsky believes that this can mirror the security of the Jews in Lancut, who lived underneath the protection of the landowning family. The synagogue is constructed with 8, barrel-vaulted bays around a primary Bimah, the 4, big, masonry pillars of which aid the ceiling and roof. Painted, decorative plasterwork ornaments the pillar capitals, ceiling, and partitions. The ground in the restored building is fabricated from concrete. The walls are decorated reproductions of the pre-warfare paintings. They characteristic traditional Jewish topics, inclusive of Noah and the Ark, symbols of the Zodiac, and pics of musical gadgets mentioned within the Book of Psalms.
