About Jastrzebie Zdroj
Jastrzebie Zdroj is a city in south Poland with 92,462 inhabitants. Its name comes from the Polish words jastrzab hawk and zdroj spring. Until the 20th century it became a village located in Upper Silesia. It became granted metropolis rights in 1963. Jastrzebie Zdroj is presently located inside the Silesian Voivodeship, formerly in Katowice Voivodeship 1975 to 1998. In the early Eighties, the metropolis turned into one in all major facilities of workers' protests, which led to advent of Solidarity Jastrzebie Zdroj 1980 moves.
