About Grodkow
Grodkow is a town in Brzeg County, Opole Voivodeship in Poland and the regulatory seat of Gmina Grodkow. It is situated in the Silesian Lowlands of the Oder bowl, in the noteworthy Upper Silesia area, around 20 km south of Brzeg. In the north it approaches the A4 autostrada. The town has 8,746 occupants 2015. Before 1945 the town was a piece of Germany see Territorial changes of Poland after World War II. The settlement of manor Grodcobichi in the Duchy of Silesia was first referenced in a 1210 deed.
The neighboring town of Neu Grottkau was spread out by German pioneers over the span of the Ostsiedlung, it was conceded city rights in 1268 by the Silesian duke Henryk IV Probes. The medieval city plan was portrayed by a rectangular commercial center and four lanes prompting the towers of the city doors and the adjacent towns of Nays, Ziebice, Wroclaw and Lewin. Upon the 1311 segment of the Silesian duchy, Grodkow tumbled to the Duchy of Brzeg administered by Duke Boleslaw III the Generous, who turned into a Bohemian vassal in 1327.
