About Brzeziny
Brzeziny is a metropolis in Poland, in Lodz Voivodeship, approximately 20 km east of Lodz. It is the capital of Brzeziny County and has a population of 12,514. It once became a thriving Jewish shtetl mentioned for its tailors. The first settlement on the site of the existing town of Brzeziny become in the course of the 13th century. The first documentary evidence of the metropolis constitution dates from 1332. The town played an essential position in the development of exchange between Russia and the Polish metropolis of Thorn from the 15th to 17th centuries.
The unique financial importance became craft and tailoring. Brzeziny turned into one of the oldest Jewish settlements in Poland, and was referred to as Krakowek. Polish noblewoman Anna Lasocka introduced the primary Jewish weavers to Brzeziny, and in 1547 was the first reference to a Jewish populace. In 1793, following the Second Partition of Poland, the town and location was annexed into the Kingdom of Prussia as South Prussia. In July 1807, following the Treaty of Tilsit, the town become transferred to the Duchy of Warsaw and after June 1815, became a part of the Russian Congress Poland to 1916.
