About Magellans Cross
It is a Christian cross planted by Portuguese and Spanish wayfarers as requested by Ferdinand Magellan after touching base in Cebu in the Philippines on contingent upon source 15 March 1521.
Magellan planted a cross to connote this imperative occasion about the proliferation of the Roman Catholic confidence in what is presently Cebu, in focal Philippines.
The first cross is supposedly encased in another wooden cross for assurance, as individuals began chipping it away in the conviction that it had marvelous mending powers.
This provoked the administration authorities to encase it in tindalo wood and secured it inside a little house of prayer called "stand." Some say, in any case, that the first cross was really annihilated.
The Magellan cross showed here is said to be an imitation of such cross. It is housed in a little sanctuary situated before the present city lobby of Cebu, along Magallanes Street named to pay tribute to Magellan.
