About Ilocos
The Ilocos Region is an administrative location of the Philippines, special as Region I, occupying the northwestern phase of Luzon. It is bordered through the Cordillera Administrative Region to the east, the Cagayan Valley to the northeast and southeast, and the Central Luzon to the south. To the west lies the South China Sea. The region contains four provinces: Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan. Its local center is San Fernando, La Union. The 2000 Census mentioned that the important languages spoken in the place are Ilocano at 66.36% of the full population at that point, Pangasinan with 27.05%, and Tagalog with three.21%.
The area became first inhabited by the aboriginal Negritos, before they have been pushed with the aid of successive waves of Austronesian immigrants that penetrated the slim coast. Tingguians inside the interior, Ilocanos within the north, Pangasinans inside the south, and Zambals in the southwestern maximum regions settled the location. Before the management of Ferdinand Marcos, Pangasinan become not part of the vicinity.
