The Saint Peter Metropolitan Cathedral, also referred to as the San Pedro Cathedral or Davao Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic cathedral located at Barangay Poblacion District, Davao City, Philippines. The cathedral, devoted to Saint Peter, is the ecclesiastical seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Davao.
An in advance church was constructed within the same location of the present day cathedral in 1847. Said to have been built in Neo-Gothic fashion, the earlier church became built immediate. In the Sixties, due to its small length, the Diocese of Davao solicited price range to amplify the church. Architect Manuel Chiew became accountable for the layout of the new church. The design of the brand new church was that of an ark as a result the pointed the front where the pass stands. A separate Bell tower became also built.. The cathedral has been a witness to two bombing incidents. The first incident in 1981 which killed 17 human beings, and in 1993 with 7 deaths.
