About Bacarra Church
Bacarra Church is a Roman Catholic church placed in the municipality of Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines below the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Laoag. The church become based by using the Augustinians, who dedicated it to St. Andrew. The church became d a National Historical Landmark by using the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, and a National Cultural Treasure by the National Museum of the Philippines.
It is understood for its centuries-vintage, domeless, leaning bell tower. The Augustinians founded the city of Bacarra on September 18, 1590 and began their missionary pastime on land owned via a chieftain the Spaniards named Castillo and a certain Andres Hermosa. Baccara turned into hooked up as a challenge center for the Apayaos. The Augustinian mission was run with the aid of two monks serving a populace of 4 ,000. The church and an adjacent convent were established in 1593 at the web site wherein an Igorot named Bacsalandoc, first settler of the town and chieftain, had erected his hut.
