About Rosfjord
The Rosfjord or Rosfjorden is a fjord in Lyngdal region in Vest-Agder area, Norway. The 12-kilometer long fjord keeps running from the town of Lyngdal toward the North Sea in the south. The Austad promontory lies on the east side of the fjord, with the town of Austad close to the shoreline. The zone encompassing the fjord was once part of the region of Austad from 1909 until its disintegration in 1963.
The northern end of the fjord is the area of the Agnefest harbor, a profound water harbor which goes back to at any rate 1771. In view of the high saltiness of the water, the fjord seldom solidifies, making it a reasonable harbor. Rosfjord Beach, a prevalent sandy shoreline in the late spring, is additionally situated at the northern end of the fjord. There is both a campground and an inn close to the shoreline. Business outdoors on the site returns to 1934. During the 1970s a few cabins were manufactured, and the inn—Rosfjord Strandhotell—dates from 1986.
