Oslo Opera House

The Oslo Opera House is the home of the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, and the national opera theatre in Norway. The constructing is located within the Bjørvika neighbourhood of primary Oslo, at the top of the Oslofjord. It is operated through Statsbygg, the authorities enterprise which manages property for the Norwegian authorities. The structure carries 1,100 rooms in a complete vicinity of 38,500 m2. The important auditorium seats 1,364 and two other performance areas can seat 200 and four hundred. The important stage is 16 m extensive and forty m deep. The angled exterior surfaces of the building are blanketed with marble from Carrara, Italy and white granite and make it appear to upward thrust from the water.

It is the most important cultural building constructed in Norway due to the fact Nidarosdomen was completed circa 1300. In 1999, after an extended countrywide debate, the Norwegian legislature decided to assemble a new opera residence in the city. A layout opposition was held and, of the 350 entries acquired, the judges selected that of Snøhetta. Construction started in 2003 and became finished in 2007, in advance of schedule and 300 million NOK below its budget of four.Four billion NOK.
