Notodden is a metropolis and municipality in Telemark county, Norway. It is part of the conventional location of Ost-Telemark. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Notodden. Notodden was separated from the municipality of Heddal in 1913 to become a separate metropolis and municipality. On 1 January 1964, the agricultural municipalities of Heddal and Gransherad had been merged into Notodden to form a brand new enlarged municipality. Notodden is on the shore of Heddalsvatnet lake, and the Tinn River runs through the city into the lake.
Norway's biggest stave church, Heddal stave church, can be seen some kilometres from the metropolis centre. Notodden Airport, Tuven, is positioned west of the metropolis centre. Norsk Hydro became founded in this metropolis. Notodden is widely recognized for the yearly Notodden Blues Festival, that's considered one of the best blues fairs in Europe. It additionally has a famous metallic pageant known as Motstoy Festivalen. The soccer club Notodden FK is centered here.
