About Norwegian Mining Museum
The Norwegian Mining Museum is located in Kongsberg, Buskerud, Norway. Norwegian Mining Museum files the history of the previous Kongsberg Silver Mines. The museum become set up in 1938, and opened to the general public in 1945. Silver deposits at Kongsberg were first found in 1629 with mines have been in operation till 1958. Today the former mining area provide a view of the historic mining operation. The museum files the development of mining all through the length the silver mines in Kongsberg had been in operation.
The cultural history dates from the 18th century, however there are traces of mining via the entire duration of operation. The mining captain’s residence, cottages, stables, foundation for a water wheel in addition to the system of aqueducts and dams are preserved.
