Hedmark is a county in Norway, bordering Trondelag to the north, Oppland to the west and Akershus to the south. The county management is in Hamar. Hedmark makes up the northeastern a part of Ostlandet, the southeastern a part of the us of a. It has an extended border with Sweden, Dalarna County and Varmland County. The largest lakes are Femunden and Mjosa, the most important lake in Norway. Parts of Glomma, Norway's longest river, go with the flow through Hedmark. Hedmark and Oppland are the best Norwegian counties with out a coastline. Hedmark additionally hosted a few events of the 1994 Winter Olympic Games. Hamar, Kongsvinger, Elverum and Tynset are towns within the county. Hedmark is one of the less urbanized regions in Norway; about half of of the population stay on rural land. The population is mainly focused inside the rich agricultural district adjacent Mjosa to the southeast.
