About Haugesund Art Gallery
The Haugesund Art Gallery stands within the north part of Haugesund with a view of the town park and rose garden. The artwork museum goes lower back to the Haugesund Art Society, founded in 1913. The Haugesund Art Gallery's museum become created as a municipal organization in 1973. The oldest constructing became created as a house for Lars and Inga Meling c. 1915. In 1952, the residence and its appertaining assets was willed to the Municipality of Haugesund as a present consistent with Lars and Inga Meling's last needs. Since 1959, the Haugesund Art Society has used the Haugesund Art Gallery as an exhibition area.
The foremost constructing, which dates from 1978, became designed with the aid of the architect David Sandved. The remaining extension was completed in 2004 and was designed via the architectural bureau Sandved og Wathne Arkitekter AS. The total building area covers 2,210 rectangular meters, of which the exhibition vicinity covers 1,000 rectangular meters.
