About Elverhoy Church

Elverhoy Church is an area church in the region of Tromso in Troms region, Norway. It is situated in the city of Tromso. The congregation is a piece of the Elverhoy ward in the Tromso curve deanery in the Diocese of Nord-Halogaland. The red wooden church situates around 435 individuals. Elverhoy Church was worked in its present area in 1971. The congregation was initially worked in 1803 on the site of the present Tromso Cathedral. The congregation, known as Tromso Church served the city of Tromso.
In 1861, a new church was being based on a similar site. This congregation was disassembled and moved a couple of hundred meters south of the city limit. It was situated outside the city and was then known as the Landkirke and later the Tromsoysund Church. It was the ward church for Tromsoysund amid this time. After the Arctic Cathedral was worked in 1965 as the new "principle church" for Tromsoysund, this congregation was in the long run shut, disassembled and moved by and by. In the mid 1970s, it was revived as Elverhopy Church, around 1.2 kilometers 0.75 mi west of the downtown area on the island of Tromsoya. A full storm cellar was worked for its present area, preparing for a ward lobby, kitchen, cloakroom, and washroom offices.
