About Arctic Cathedral

The Arctic Cathedral, formally known as Tromsdalen Church or Tromsoysund Church, is a congregation in the city of Tromso in Troms region, Norway. The congregation is usually nicknamed the Ishavskatedralen, truly "The Cathedral of the Arctic Sea" or "Ice Cathedral". The congregation was worked in 1965 in the Tromsdalen valley and it is an area church and not, truth be told, a house of God as it is regularly called. The congregation is a piece of the Tromsoysund area in the Tromso curve deanery in the Diocese of Nord-Halogaland. The church was outlined by the modeler Jan Inge Hovig and is fabricated essentially of cement. The primary temporary worker for the development was Ing. F. Selmer A/S Tromso.
On account of the congregation's particular look and circumstance, it has regularly been called "the musical show place of Norway", comparing it to the acclaimed Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia. The church is likely the most well known point of interest in Tromso, despite the fact that Tromso has another congregation of intrigue, Tromso Cathedral, which is noted for being the main wooden basilica in Norway. The pivotal of the congregation was 1 April 1964 and it was finished in 1965. The new church was sanctified on 19 November 1965 by the Bishop Monrad Norderval. The congregation is worked out of cast set up aluminum-covered solid boards.
