About Shopping Street in Niue
Start shopping in the capital city Alofi's very famous The Commercial Center. It is small in size, identified as a home to bank, stationary store, handicrafts and gift shops, telephone center, butcher shop, and many more. Beside this small shopping complex, you may encounter a Bond Store situated next to the immigration office selling liquor. Consuming alcohol on the street is strictly prohibited. Please note that largest supermarkets are built in Alofi, where mostly shops are open on weekdays between 0900-1600, and on Saturday, the best time to shop is from 1600-1900. Yet another very attractive shopping place to get your attention is Hinapoto Handcrafts rich in offering you a superior quality, firmly woven baskets of pandanus. Your special purchase can also include pandanus hats. If you like collecting unique stamps then visit the Niue Philatelic and Numismatic Bureau, adjacent to the post office in the Commercial Center. Niuean women are very dexterous and are highly respected for their weaving talent, producing baskets, mats, hats, handbags, etc. Nonetheless, some handful of shops can also be observed by you at village show days.
