About Catalyst Matapa Chasm
Matapa Chasm is believed to be used as a swimming place by the kings in the times of yore. It is located at the Northwest part of Niue very close to Hikutavake village. It is a remarkable scenic attraction accessible by a road at the foot of Hikutavake Hill continuing from the main road. The freshwater stream that enters into the chasm below sea level, keeps its water really cool and therefore makes it notable for bystanders. Owing to the high walls on both sides of the chasm, it is advisable to you to discover Matapa Chasm particularly around noon. It is a powerful activity to be done in Niue that invigorates you. Besides, you may see some locals jumping from top of the wall in Tarzan style jumps but you need to take extra care while entering into the pool because rocks at the bottom are very slippery.
