About Waipoua Forest
Waipoua Forest is a wooded area, on the west coast of the Northland Region of New Zealand's North Island. It preserves a number of the excellent examples of kauri forest closing in New Zealand. It is extremely good for having two of the biggest residing kauri trees, T?ne Mahuta and Te Matua Ngahere. The wooded area became d a sanctuary in 1952.
