About The Peacock Fountain

It is a late Victorian stop wellspring, was made by Coalbrookdale Foundry, Shropshire, and imported from England, financed by an estate from the Hon. John Peacock.

It was moved to the Archery grass a couple of years after the fact. In 1949 the wellspring was destroyed and put into capacity in light of repeating upkeep issues.

The City Council exchanged the parts to Ferrymead Historic Park in the 1980s.

Throughout the year's bits of the wellspring disappeared or decayed away. A board of trustees was framed to reestablish it and in 1995 a preservation design was readied.

Of the 309 cast pieces that made up the wellspring, 158 must be re-thrown. It was reinstalled in the Botanic Gardens on the south side of the Canterbury Museum in 1996 with an enhanced pipe framework and another shading plan.
