About Rainbow Falls

The Rainbow Falls, M?ori name Waianiwaniwa, are a single-drop waterfall positioned at the Kerikeri River close to Kerikeri in New Zealand. Unlike maximum New Zealand waterfalls that are created by means of the erosion of tender rock, the Rainbow Falls are sited on a difficult basalt layer of rock beside softer mudstone. The falls were shaped while water eroded the mudstone. The 27 metre waterfall is popular with vacationers and is frequently photographed from an adjoining Department of Conservation region.

The Rainbow Falls Walk is alongside a music which takes approximately 10 mins to traverse to connect with the Kerikeri River Track which is set three.5 km lengthy and takes approximately 1.5 hours to walk. It ends in the Kerikeri Basin wherein Kerikeri's vintage homes are sited, the Stone Store, Mission House and St James Church, plus Rewa's Village and historic Kororipo Pa. The song follows the north bank of the River and passes through kiwi habitat and regenerating native trees which includes stands of younger kauri and totara.
