About New Plymouth Coastal Walkway

The Coastal Walkway is a 12.7-kilometre 7.9 mi lengthy walkway positioned along the coast of New Plymouth, New Zealand. The walkway stretches from near Port Taranaki, beyond the significant metropolis, through Hickford Park, beyond Bell Block Beach and to Tiromoana Crescent in Bell Block, north-east of New Plymouth. The walkway runs through a number of bridges, maximum notably, the Te Rewa Rewa Bridge. The Coastal Walkway is a foreshore manner built in 1999, in conjunction with the Wind Wand, in the beginning as a 7-kilometre four.3 mi long walkway. In 2010, extensions had been made to the walkway and a further

3 kilometres have been introduced, extending to Bell Block. The development was a part of a joint programme through NPDC and NZTA to encourage and allow human beings to apply lively shipping rather than motor motors. In 2014, the walkway was prolonged to Tiromoana Crescent in Bell Block bringing the duration to twelve.7km. In 2016, the walkway was prolonged with the Mangati Pathway, linking the coastal direction throughout Bell Block alongside the Mangati Reserve to SH3.
