About Invercargill
Invercargill is the southernmost and westernmost metropolis in New Zealand, and one of the southernmost cities within the global. It is the economic centre of the Southland location. The city lies in the heart of the extensive expanse of the Southland Plains at the Oreti or New River some 18 km north of Bluff, that's the southernmost metropolis in the South Island. It sits amid rich farmland this is bordered by using large areas of conservation land and marine reserves, along with Fiordland National Park covering the south-west nook of the South Island and the Catlins coastal vicinity.
Many streets in the metropolis, specially inside the centre and fundamental shopping district, are named after rivers in Great Britain, especially Scotland. These consist of the principle streets Dee and Tay, as well as the ones named after the Tweed, Forth, Tyne, Esk, Don, Ness, Yarrow, Spey and Eye rivers. The 2013 census showed the population was 51,696, up 2.7% at the 2006 census wide variety.
