About Dunedin Botanic Garden

The Dunedin Botanic Garden is situated at the northern end of focal Dunedin, in the South Island of New Zealand. The garden is near the University of Otago and one of the city's most noteworthy graveyards, the Northern Cemetery, on a goad of Signal Hill and on the waterway plain quickly beneath it. These two sections of the greenhouses are referred to just as the upper greenery enclosures and the lower gardens. The lower gardens are at an elevation of about 25 meters; the upper greenery enclosures ascend the slope goad to a stature of 85 meters. The Garden - New Zealand's most seasoned - was set up in 1863 on a site encompassing the Water of Leith presently involved by the University of Otago. After broad flooding in 1868, the greenhouses were moved to their present site in 1869.

The lower greenhouses' highlights incorporate the Winter Garden, a warmed Edwardian glass house, rose and herb cultivates, a duck lake, youngsters' play area, band rotunda, and Japanese garden, the last celebrating joins with Dunedin's Japanese sister city, Otaru. The lower gardens are likewise noted for their figures and statues, among them a fancy wellspring, an endowment of Wolf Harris, and a couple of statues by Cecil Thomas delineating Peter Pan and the Darling youngsters from the novel Peter Pan.
