Dowse Art Museum

Percy Dowse filled in as the chairman of Hutt City from 1950 to 1970. He was a firm adherent to the guideline of having physical, social, and social offices in current urban communities and he started a building stage in the city that saw the development of point of interest structures, for example, the War Memorial Library, the Lower Hutt Town Hall, and the Ewen Bridge.

His better half, Mary Dowse, was a passionate supporter of human expressions. She collaborated with Elizabeth Harper from The Hutt Art Society, and the couple campaigned the City Council.

The prevailing in their undertaking when, in 1963, the Council consented to give space to a craftsmanship exhibition.
