About Dannevirke
Dannevirke is a rural provider city inside the Manawatu Wanganui Region of the North Island, New Zealand. It is the most important metropolis of the administrative Tararua District, the easternmost of the districts wherein the Regional Council has obligations. Before European settlers arrived inside the 1870s, the line of descent for Maori within the region changed into from the Kurahaupo waka.
The tribe of the area is Rangitāne, with geographic distinction to Te Rangiwhakaewa within the immediate Dannevirke region. The first recognized 'Aotea' meeting house became set up about 15 generations ago followed by using the building of a marae at Makirikiri near Dannevirke at about the equal time because the first Nordic settlers arrived from Napier and Hawkes Bay. The city changed into based on 15 October 1872 by means of Danish, Norwegian and Swedish settlers, adherents of Scandinavism, who arrived on the port of Napier and moved inland. The settlers, who arrived under the Public Works Act, built their preliminary settlement in a clearing of the 70 Mile Bush.
