Tower of Drienerlo
About Tower of Drienerlo
The Torentje van Drienerlo is a 1979 art work by way of Dutch artist Wim T. Schippers, placed at the campus of the University of Twente in Enschede. Schippers made the tower long after he had left a profession in visible arts for tv. In the Sixties, he become related to the Fluxus movement and had won a recognition for absurdist and controversial works of art, which include the well-known Pindakaasvloer 1962–1967, consisting essentially of a ground covered with peanut butter. He worked on quick movies as well, with Wim van der Linden and others, however his relations with the mounted art international had been bothered and by using the early Seventies he changed into running nearly completely on writing and making tv shows for the VPRO
Schippers cited television as "the finest gallery inside the world. The paintings of artwork includes the spire of a church tower growing up just above the floor of a pond, suggesting that the church itself has sunk deeply. This partially mysterious fine became Schippers' purpose, and turned into alleged to bring life to the college campus. The University of Twente is pleased with its substantial collection of artwork items on campus, and the tower is the fine-acknowledged of them all. As a landmark on the UT campus it's far a middle of year-round hobby. In the wintertime, the pond is the vicinity for quick-music skating event.
