About St James the Great Church
Saint James the Great Church is a massive Protestant church within the city of Flushing, Netherlands. The building is at the Old Market; round are the streets known as Branderijstraat and Lepelstraat. The authentic Roman Catholic church of the town, it has belonged to the Dutch Reformed Church considering 1572, which have become the Protestant Church within the Netherlands in 2004. The church is pseudo-basilican in style; the aisles are almost as huge as the nave, the 3 aisles each have their own vault and the nave rises above the aisles, despite the fact that a clerestory is lacking.
The church became constructed between 1308 and 1328. From this era dates the lower brick section of the tower . The Gothic spire changed into changed by a timber crown just like the cutting-edge one in 1501. The carillon in the tower is the fourth bells and dates from 1951. In 1911 a big fireplace broke out wherein the church closely broken. The hearth triggered steeple to come crashing down and landed at the rest of the church building. A massive a part of the church has been misplaced, along with the church's organs.
