About Sittard-Geleen
Sittard-Geleen is a municipality in the southeastern Netherlands. It was shaped in 2001 from the previous municipalities Sittard, Geleen and Born. The mixed municipality has about 92,518 inhabitants and is therefore the second one most populated municipality in Limburg. Since the 2006 municipal elections, the city has been ruled by means of a coalition of PvdA, GroenLinks and the neighborhood birthday celebration GOB. The motorway connecting the centres of Sittard and Geleen, the Rijkswegboulevard, has been rebuilt to be a primary path for biking and taking walks.
The cycling and taking walks provision is both generous and continuous. Side road junctions, or crossroads, are made 'subordinate'. The carriageways have been narrowed to 1 3m lane in each path. Parking locations have been made, in small corporations, on the facet of the carriageways. These are made to be 'not smooth to apply for large automobiles' and so the road centre is marked as an area for shipping automobiles to stop. Information furnished via the highway engineers: Büro für Stadt und Verkehr, Aachen, Germany.
