About Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park
Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park is a countrywide park within the Dutch province of Overijssel, positioned between the townships of Hellendoorn and Holten. In 2004, the Dutch Government changed the fame of the region to National Park. The park is particularly managed through Staatsbosbeheer, Natuurmonumenten and the water organization Vitens. In addition, several small personal owners are concerned inside the control, in addition to regional communities and stakeholders. The National Park is positioned in its entirety south of the N35, and encapsulates Haarlerberg, Holterberg, Noetselerberg and Koningsbelten.
The park covers a place of approximately 35 rectangular kilometres. Its highest factor is the Koningsbelt, standing 75 metres above Normaal Amsterdams Peil. The Sallandse heuvelrug is a moraine, created in the 2d-closing glaciation, Saalien, one hundred fifty.000 years ago. During the Holocene forests began to expand, however after the boom of the human population, those forests had been cut. From the Middle Ages onwards the region was used for grazing by using sheep and goat, and the top layer of the soil become eliminated to use it as fertilizer for the crop fields.
