About Noord Beveland
Noord-Beveland is a former island and also a municipality and place inside the Dutch province of Zeeland. The island is hooked up to the mainland by using three dams and a bridge. The municipality has 7,309 inhabitants and has a place of 120.29 km². The Oosterschelde is to the north of Noord-Beveland, and the Veerse Meer to the south. The island is absolutely flat and is 1 meter above sea level. Noord-Beveland is one of the least populated regions of the Netherlands.
Near Colijnsplaat there was a temple committed to Nehalennia; a Celtic-Germanic purchaser saint of fishermen and sailors. A buying and selling agreement referred to as Ganuenta arose around this temple. At the give up of the third century, the region became populated because of German invasions and continuous flooding. From 700 the salt marshes started out to grow to be populated. After a main typhoon flood in 1014, the primary dikes were built and mounds were raised. In 1100 the first church changed into built on Noord-Beveland in Welle. Noord-Beveland became flooded after the exceptional flood of 1134.
