About Nigtevecht
Nigtevecht is a Town at the Vecht in the acute northwest of the Dutch province of Utrecht, belonging to the municipality of Stichtse Vecht. The village has 1450 population. Until 1989 it formed a separate municipality. In 1989, the municipality of Nigtevecht merged with the municipality of Loenen, after which merged in 2011 with the merger municipality Stichtse Vecht. Nigtevecht changed into first stated in 1281. It was initially an elongated village on a river dune alongside the left financial institution of the winding Vecht.
Nowadays it has a village center in a bend of the river. Nigtevecht also owes its name to this vicinity, it's far a corruption of Niftervecht, on the Vecht. Nigtevecht turned into on the French aspect of the waterline for the duration of the French War in 1672, and was nearly completely destroyed with the aid of the French troops. Only the church tower has been preserved.
