About Nederweert
Nederweert is a municipality and a city in southeastern Netherlands with a populace of 17,001 as of 2017 and has a place of one zero one.Seventy eight km2 of which 1.55 km2 is water. Nederweert lies at the intersection of 3 channels: the Zuid-Willemsvaart, the Noordervaart and the channel Wessem-Nederweert. In the 19th century these channels furnished transport routes to export peat that became harvested from the Peel. These channels connect Nederweert to Maastricht and 's-Hertogenbosch. Nederweert turned into initially called 'Merefelt' which means 'amongst the lakes', although it become later named Weert van den nedersten eynde.
A 'Weert' in antique Dutch approach a high location within the landscape. This latter call later changed into Nederweert as it's far referred to as today. Before the 14th century Nederweert turned into part of the municipality of Weert. The first reference which speaks of Nederweert as independent was in 1419. Nederweert has been beneath rule of the Graven van Horn until 1701. Later in 1715 it have become part of the southern states of the Netherlands. In 1785 it turned into annexed by using the French. During this era it became a part of the Belgian departement of the Nedermaas.
