About Museum Slager
Museum Slager is an art museum in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, devoted to the work of eight neighborhood painters from 3 generations of a unmarried family, Slager. Behind the prominent facade of the Slager Museum, site visitors will come upon a set of paintings, drawings, engravings, watercolours and items, all directly related to this own family of painters. The museum is placed at eight Choorstraat, now not far from St. John's Cathedral.
The founding father of the Slager portray dynasty was Petrus Marinus Slager. Four of his kids, Piet, Frans, Jeannette and Corry, have been additionally artistically talented and accompanied of their father's footsteps. Piet and Frans have been both married to an artist, Piet's wife became Suze Velsen, Frans' wife changed into Marie van Gilse. Grandson Tom Slager represents the third generation. With the loss of life of Tom, who had no youngsters, the male line of the Slager own family have become extinct. The Slager own family performed a prominent function in the cultural life of 's-Hertogenbosch. For years they have been worried inside the former Koninklijke School, the precursor of brand new Art Academy within the metropolis.
