Museum Mohlmann
About Museum Mohlmann
Museum Mohlmann is a privately owned museum for Dutch realistic and figurative artwork. It is located in Tjamsweer near Appingedam within the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. The museum turned into founded in 1998 in Venhuizen and moved to its new vicinity in 2008. It is an initiative of the realist painter Rob Møhlmann and does now not receive authorities subsidies. Together together with his spouse, Laura Møhlmann-de Grijs, he created a level for Dutch contemporary visual artwork in addition to a collegial bond with fellow-artists. It evolved into an idiosyncratic, nationally-oriented artists’ museum.
After Rob Mohlmann and his spouse moved from Amsterdam to Hoorn in 1988, he severed ties with the Amsterdam art gallery ‘Lieve Hemel’ and began selling his work from two shop home windows in the back of which his studio was placed. In 1990 the couple moved to a dilapidated farmhouse in the region of Venhuizen. Here Møhlmann constructed his artwork studio beneath a pyramid formed roof. During the years that followed a studio/art gallery became constructed. From 1995 onward, he offered his very own work from this vicinity.
