About Muiden
Muiden is a metropolis and former municipality in the Netherlands, within the province of North Holland. It lies on the mouth of the Vecht and is in a place referred to as the Vechtstreek. Since 2016, Muiden has been a part of the brand new municipality of Gooise Meren. The first known reference to Muiden is from 953 whilst Otto I, Holy Roman Emperor, granted the settlement and its toll rights to Cathedral of Saint Martin, Utrecht. It become called Amuda, meaning "mouth of the river A". "A" become the vintage name for the Vecht river. In 1122 Muiden turned into, together with Utrecht, granted a few metropolis rights by way of Emperor Henry
V. After the lands round Muiden were given to Count Floris V, he commenced building Muider Castle at the mouth of the Vecht river. Muiden yet again received town rights in 1296. The first shielding works date from the first 1/2 of the 15th century. In 1590 the partitions are changed with earthen mounds with bastions after a layout via Adriaen Anthonisz. Muiden changed into the northern stop of the Dutch Water Line. In 1673 the ocean lock within the Vecht river become relocated from Fort Hinderdam to Muiden and in 1676 it turned into extended with a sea wall along the Vecht mouth to save you flooding.
