About Mijdrecht
Mijdrecht is the most important metropolis and the capital of the municipality of De Ronde Venen inside the Dutch province of Utrecht. The village is located just south of the provincial road 201, approximately halfway among Uithoorn and Vinkeveen. Mijdrecht is near the village of Wilnis and has 16,101 inhabitants. Until 1989, Mijdrecht was an independent municipality. In that year, the new municipality De Ronde Venen was fashioned collectively with Vinkeveen and Waverveen and Wilnis. A merger with Abcoude took place on January 1, 2011. The metropolis hall is located in Mijdrecht. Until 1795 Mijdrecht belonged to the countries of the prose of St.
John in Utrecht. Around 1090 a number of farmers settled on a dyke, surrounded by waters, canals and lakes. It become the dike that is now called Bozenhoven and is placed just earlier than the center of Mijdrecht. As greater region became reclaimed, more humans may want to settle, and soon Mijdrecht grew right into a hamlet. Mijdrecht turned into a real village around the high Middle Ages. There was even a small citadel, the Huis in Mijdrecht. This picture has remained unchanged for decades.
