About Madurodam
Madurodam is a Dutch miniature city in The Hague on a scale of 1 to 25, opened on 2 July 1952. This tourist enjoyment park attracts round 600,000 paying traffic every year. The park covers a total region of ??62,630 m². The built city itself measures 17,630 m².
It is called after George Maduro, a Curaçao pupil who prominent himself as a cavalry officer within the conflict of the residence all through the May days of 1940 and died in Dachau attention camp in February 1945; his parents donated the preliminary capital for the assignment, that is considered via the Maduro own family as a monument to their only son. Madurodam become conceived through Bep Boon van der Starp, with the miniature town Bekonscot Model Village, founded in 1929 in Beaconsfield within the UK, for instance.
