About Hoorn–Medemblik heritage railway
The Hoorn–Medemblik heritage railway operated via the Museumstoomtram Hoorn Medemblik is a background railway inside the Netherlands. It runs from Hoorn to Medemblik, a distance of approximately 20 km. The original railway line became operated by means of Locaalspoorwegmaatschappij Hollands Noorderkwartier 1884 - 1935. The line turned into opened on three November 1887. The music followed a circuitous route to reduce the amount of land that had to be compulsorily purchased. The line used steam traction; diesel traction being delivered in 1929. The line changed into closed to passenger services from 1 January 1936 to 29 May 1940.
