About Fries Museum

The Fries Museum is a historical center in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands. The historical center was established on 13 April 1881 by the "Common Friesch Genootschap ter Beoefening van Friesche Geschied-, Oudheid-en Taalkunde", a general public for the conservation of Frisian culture that was itself was established in 1827 and required a place to display the different curios it had assembled. In the early decades this neighborhood gallery on the Turfmarkt, a branch of the Antiquarisch Kabinet van Friesland, was focussed on run of the mill Hindelooper merchandise and other Frisian interests that had been gathered by the nearby evangelist author Joost Hiddes Halbertsma.
The principal recorded show of 1877, in any case, which had more than 1500 things on credit and pulled in numerous guests, prompted a sudden benefit of 17,000 guilders, and the historical center could buy another property on the Koningstraat, the previous "Eysinga house", where the exhibition hall opened its entryways in 1881. The collection of the Fries Museum comprises of 1 million questions and is committed to expressions, artworks, and history from the years 1200 to 2000. Around 8000 items are right now in plain view in the exhibition hall.
The most notable questions in the historical center are the Hindelooper Room, the Popta Treasure and the unbelievable sword of Grote Pier. The Mata Hari corridor is committed to the life of the artist and spy, who was conceived in 1876 in Leeuwarden as Margaretha Zelle. The exhibition hall has the biggest gathering of works by the neighborhood late sixteenth century representation painter Adriaen van Cronenburg. The accumulation contains artistic creations by outstanding painters, for example, Wigerus Vitringa, Wybrand de Geest, Eelke Jelles Eelkema, Lawrence Alma-Tadema, Gerrit Benner and Jan Mankes.
