About Egmond Abbey
Egmond Abbey is the most established convent in the Netherlands. It was established in the mid tenth century by Dirk I, Count of Holland. The first monastery was annihilated in 1573 on the requests of William of Orange. Before then it housed the graves of a few checks and royal ladies of Holland. The nunnery was modified after the principal world war.
