De Schoolmeester is a smock mill in Westzaan, North Holland, the Netherlands which is maintained in full working order. It is the most effective wind powered paper mill within the global. The mill is indexed as Rijksmonument range 40013. The first paper mill inside the Zaan region became built in 1605. De Schoolmeester was built in 1692.
It is also recognized by means of the nickname De Gauwdief. The call De Schoolmeester likely denotes the occupation of one of the founders. The mill in the beginning made grey paper.
