About De Alde Feanen National Park
The Oude Venen National Park is a countrywide park within the Netherlands province of Friesland. Alde Feanen is the nearby name in West Frisian. The Alde Feanen is also a Natura 2000 vicinity. The Alde Feanen is part of the municipalities Leeuwarden, Smallingerland and Tytsjerksteradiel. Its length is set 25 km2. Part of the countrywide park is the lake place Princenhof. The Alde Feanen incorporates morasses, lakes, forests, peat and meadows. In the vicinity as a minimum 450 plant species and a hundred fowl species can be found. A very outstanding bird is the white stork. Tall wood poles had been installed so that the storks can construct nests.
Another attraction is furnished via Shetland ponies. Some of the paddocks may be entered so that ponies can be petted by traffic. In the village of Earnewâld there is a traffic centre, De Reidplûm, close to the stork breeding station It Eibertshiem. The vicinity is owned via It Fryske Gea when you consider that 1934. After a training length of four years, the Minister of Nature designed it as the 20th countrywide park inside the Netherlands in 2006. In the Alde Feanen are several enormous wind mills, including 'De Ikkers', a so-referred to as 'spinnenkopmolen' from the 18th century.
