About Bunschoten
Bunschoten is a municipality and a town in the Netherlands, within the province of Utrecht. It lies approximately 7 km north of Amersfoort. Its territory contains the unique municipality of Bunschoten and the previous municipality of Duyst, De Haar and Zevenhuizen, which changed into part of Hoogland from 1854 until 1971. In 1383, the bishop of Utrecht gave Bunschoten city rights, which allowed the residents to build an earthen wall around the metropolis. The fortifications and part of the town have been destroyed at Christmas 1427 in a struggle between rival bishops, and were never rebuilt.The municipality of Bunschoten consists of the subsequent towns, towns, villages and/or districts.
