About Bolsward
Bolsward is a city in the municipality of Sudwest Fryslan, inside the Dutch province of Friesland. It is positioned south of Franeker, northwest of Sneek and east of Makkum. The town is located at the north facet of the A7 and the Wijmerts and flows through the city encompass Stadsgracht and Leeuwardervaart. Bolsward additionally includes the hamlets Knossens, Laad en Zaad and Spreeuwenstein. Bolsward originated on 3 mounds, of which at the least the oldest in which the Sint Maartenskerk is on dates from earlier than the beginning of the era.
The Broerekerk, destroyed via hearth on eight May 1980 and now preserved as a ruin, is the oldest constructing inside the city and dates partly from the cease of the 13th century. The statue of Our Lady of Sevenwouden also dates from the Middle Ages, these days preserved in St Francis' Basilica on the Dijlakker. Bolsward received town rights from Philip the Good in 1455 thanks to the orator Father Brugman. Bolsward became one of the Hanseatic cities. The city corridor of Bolsward that turned into built around 1615 is a sign of the flourishing of the town within the 17th century. It became enlarged in 1765 and decorated in the rococo fashion.
