About Twyfelfontein: Kunene
This is first site in Namibia to be recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Twyfelfontein is a site that is famous for pre-historic paintings and carvings. There are more than 2,000 rock carvings some of which date back to more than two thousand years. It is believed that these were created by inhabitants of the area who were mainly hunters and gatherers. The figures include images of elephants, giraffes, ostriches and of many rituals performed.
