About Otjimbingwe
Otjimbingwe is a settlement within the Erongo Region of central Namibia. It has approximately eight,000 population. The place turned into already a brief agreement of some Herero within the early 18th century. Their chief Tjiponda coined the name Otjizingue from which the settlement's call evolved. The Rhenish Mission Society used Otjimbingwe as a important place for their Namibian venture in 1849. Johannes Rath and his circle of relatives settled within the region on 11 July that year, and the settlement turned into d reputable in 1864. In 1854, copper was observed within the nearby Khomas highlands and the Walwich Bay Mining Company set up its workplaces in the metropolis.
Miners and traders flocked to the settlement, and the researcher and businessman Karl Johan Andersson sold the whole settlement in 1860. He bought it five years later to the Rhenish Missionary Society. However the deliver were exhausted via that point, and the mining operations ceded.
