About Oranjemund
Oranjemund is a diamond mining metropolis of 4,000 inhabitants located within the Karas Region of the extreme southwest of Namibia, on the northern bank of the Orange River mouth on the border to South Africa. The entire location alongside the shore of the Atlantic Ocean was proclaimed limited in 1908 due to the prevalence of alluvial diamonds. Since then the public was forbidden to go into it. In 1927 diamonds were located south of the Orange River in South Africa.
